British Masters Round 2 Dean moor

The second round for the amateur mx2 was in cumbria at dean moor which is situated near whitehaven. The weather was awesome and the track looked great. Went out for practice/ qualification first on the saturday morning and the track had a few lines but not loads as we were out second. Anyway got a few quick times in, as there was 60 riders on the track it can get quite hectic. Managed to qualify 5th which was my highest ever qualification so i was pretty happy with that

The first race came and i was well up for it. At the start i nearly got the holeshot but was just beat there by another rider. I battled for the lead for 2-3 laps when i felt a problem on the rear end. i was loosing traction. as i looked down i realised i had a puncture. gutted wasnt the word. After the first race i was more than ready for the second. I got the holeshot and lead the race for 3 laps. Ricky lethaby Then passed me and puled about 4-5 bike lenths. I kept this gap for about 4 laps when i slowly started to reel him in. Then with 3 laps to go i finally passed him and lead the final laps. made a few mistakes on the last lap but brought it home to get my first ever amateur mx2 win. http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1447452

On the sunday, they watered the track alot as it got quite dusty towards the end of saturday. So when we went out it was one lined and pretty wet. Got a pretty horrible start, around 12-13th. So i had to work my way up as best i could.I passed a few riders and got lucky with a few fallers. Was very hard to pass in places as the track was very slippery and one lined. The track dried out pretty good for the last raceand was also very very rough. I got an ok start to the first corner, but kept it tight and ended up coming out in 2nd. I stayed there for about 2 laps when i was passed by Aled bellis. He then passed the leader, so i followed him passed aswell. We then pulled away and i followed him for 2 laps before i made the pass. i then lead until the last lap, where i made a major mistake allowing him to repass me with 4 corners left. I then pulled back up on him and we went over the finish line virtually side by side. He won by 0.2 seconds. http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1447454

In the end i finished 8th overall. I was very dissapointed with this as i lost alot of valuable championship points. i now sit 6th in the championship. Hopefully with all the bad luck behind me an be 3rd time lucky at whitby in may. Excellent ride there, by the sounds of things I think you may have been suffering from a little bit of nerves as you say 5th was your best ever qualification time.... Well done on the win it sounds as if you will be moving up the championship table in the next round.

Try to focus on the track even before you get there and work out lines in your head if youve ridden the track before, if you havent then get hold of any video footage (you tube maybe) and study it, get yourself syked up for it and the nerves should hopefully be transferred into adrenaline come race day.

cheers guys. yea im not very good at qualifying. Hopefully getting better though. Cant wait for next round now i know i have the speed to be up front. like you said hopefully move up a few positions next round.
