The season finally drew to a close as Portsmouth Motocross Club held the final round of their summer series at a brilliantly albeit dry Swanmore circuit at the weekend. An abundance of riders arrived in the hazy sunshine to try to score the points needed to end their season on a high.

There was no beating Cam MacDonald in the Inter Open class as he quickly took the lead and remained out in front until the chequered flag waved him home, three perfect wins securing him the overall victory. An immense battle was raging behind him between Gary Dalton and Jamie Cox , with Dalton taking the upper hand over Cox to secure second overall. Aggressive riding and super-quick speed saw him crossing the line in second in the opening motos to secure the runner up spot. After brilliantly holeshotting each race, Cox unfortunately wiped in race one, but pushing the leading duo all the way in the remaining races, he romped into second place in moto three to secure third overall.

The powerhouse that is Henry Siddiqui blasted into action once again as the Inter 85s took to the track, without faltering once, Siddiqui stormed straight into the lead and soon had a tremendous advantage over the other rides, securing three straight wins with ease and the overall victory. A small group of riders were all vying for second place, but Chris Nuttall rode brilliantly, securing a second place in the opening moto and chased Aaron Gordon home in the remaining races to cross the line in third but did enough to take home the runner up spot. A great sight to see Gordon back from a broken leg, and showed no signs of his injury as he stormed into second place in races two and three to secure third overall.

A good turnout of Junior riders sped up the start straight with Charlie Razzell powering into the lead. He pulled away quickly in races two and three with no-one able to catch him and secured two impressive wins to take home the overall. Daniel Sultana had an outstanding first race, securing the win and remained a threat to the leader in the remaining races, charging hard to secure a third and second to finish up in second overall. Brad Foley joined in the action at the front of the pack sharing the spoils with Sultana to finish in second and third in the last two races, a great end to his season to finish in third overall.

With so many Autos on the track, the pick-up marshals had their work cut out as bikes struggled up the hills and were littering the track left, right and centre, but the circuit proved no match for Luke Williamson as he charged to the front of the pack and remained ahead in all three motos to finish up in first overall. Liam Brosnan put on a hard chase, frustratingly unable to catch the leader in each moto but still rode brilliantly to finish in second overall. Austin Wild pulled out all the stops as he powered into third position, just managing to keep a rampaging Harry White from stealing his place on the track, and with two third places finished the day in third overall.

With the AMX and VMX riders joining forces, it was great to see some of the “oldies” getting stuck in the thick of it at the front of the field, with “youngster” AMX Wildman Willis taking top honours as he secured two first places and a second, a brilliant battle in race three with Steve Turvey seeing him slide into first on the last lap. Brad Aspden had an awful start to his day but thankfully after the race was red-flagged he redeemed himself in the re-start to work his way into second place. A brilliant ride in race two ensured victory was his and he ended the day in second overall. A great comeback for Lee Wharton, who showed no signs of being away and pushed himself to the limit to move into fourth place in the opening races to secure third overall.

Paul Spacagna kept up with the young ‘uns as he battled his way into the top three in all motos, with the bike performing well he scored three maximums in the VMX class to take home the overall win. Darren Noyes was in the thick of it too, securing three second places to finish the day in second overall. Alan Turner was back in the mix as he rode his new Honda for the first time and it proved its worth as he secured third overall, narrowly missing out a straight set of third places.

The AMX Novice class was bountiful and was joined by a solo EVO rider who unsurprisingly won his class! Louis Reid stormed to victory ahead of all the novices, securing two wins, and just narrowly missing out on a third in race three. Tom Barrington was on fire as he powered ahead of the rest of the field, a brilliant last race win securing the overall victory in his class. Scott Sanders ended his season on a high as he pushed his way through the pack, battling hard until the chequered flag waved, and a brilliant second in the final moto rewarded him with second overall. After shooting to the front of the pack from the drop of the gate, Rob Grant powered around the dusty track, a brilliant second in race one laying the foundations for a good day, and with consistent results following he finished in third overall.

The Senior class provided some of the most exhilarating action of the day, top speed excitement from the drop of the gate. Harry Hinson was on a mission and after a disappointing opening moto, he soon moved into top spot, charging hard to keep his lead and roared away with the overall victory. An impressive performance from Michael Denton who holeshot each race taking charge of the group, securing his first race win in the class in the opening moto. Leading the way in the remaining races, he had to succumb to Hinsons pressure but still did enough to finish the day in second overall. After a disastrous opening race seeing him hit the deck, Chae Jenkinson had his work cut out to prove his worth on the track, and did so in fine style to power into second place in the remaining races to secure third overall.
